"When you come to the land you will plant every fruit tree" – The Holy One Blessed Be He said to Israel: Even though you will find the land full of goodness, don't say: 'We'll sit and not plant trees', but be careful in planting trees… just as you came into the land and found planted fruit-trees that others planted, you too should plant trees for your children. No one should say: I'm old, how many years do I have left? Why should I tire myself out planting trees if tomorrow I die? (No, don't think like this, but rather) let no one abstain from planting trees, bit instead – just as you found trees, add on ore trees for others, even if you're old" (Midrash Tanchuma, Pשrshat Kedoshim).
The first class of our branch in Ma'ale Ephraim decided to leave a souvenir for future generations and in the beginning of the summer semester they planted a garden of fruit trees from which future classes will be able to eat, and so will the planters when they return after their army service.
A great variety of trees were planted, among them almonds, pomelo, pomegranates, pecan, loquat, and more.
Climber plants were also planted, like grape vines and passion fruit. In the coming weeks the guys there will build a bower for shade, a swing and a corner for a kumsitz for the future generations!
We wish them a fruitful and successful summer!
