Last weekend (Parshat Vayarah) we went on an intensive 30-hour swing visit to our graduates presently in the army. We started our visit at the soldiers from the 101st Paratroop Battalion who are currently in the Schechem (Nablus) area, joining them for their morning calisthenics. From there we continued on to the Golani Brigade's basic training base to see the guys who are close to completing their basic training. We also visited commanders in the brigade, our graduates, two of whom are getting married this month. Mazal Tov!
On our way north we made a short stop at the naval commando training base and at an IAF technical base.
Towards evening we reached the Israeli naval base in Haifa, where ten of our alumni are serving in various capacities.
On our way to the graduation ceremony of the elite Egoz unit in the north we popped in for a visit with the brigade's intelligence command and medical corps, seeing also graduates who were on their way from training to taking positions defending the border of Israel. We ran into a company commander who graduated in our 21st class who was being relieved on the border by a reserve company commander who had been a student in our 12th class!
Finally, with dawn, we joined up with crews who were completing their advanced training in Egoz on Mt. Hermon. There five of our students there, plus the son of our cooks, Tzuri and his wife Aliza!
